This was taken in early December. We have a lot of does wandering through our property in Glenburn, but this was “that time of the year” and this buck though he’d hit the jackpot in our front yard! November ~ Photo Contest Winner ~ McArthur Farm Supply

It is that time of year again for the 14th annual McArthur Farm Supply Golf classic! This is an invitational only event for our growers, customers, and staff to get a chance to meet and have a little fun away from the fields and office.

Check in is at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 16, 2010 for a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m. The format is a four person scramble, and McArthur Farm Supply will be responsible for putting the teams together. This has worked out well in the past, and gives everyone a chance to meet someone new.

Immediately following the golf tournament, there will be a Vendor/Grower appreciation BBQ hosted by George and Chris McArthur at their home. If you have recieved an invitation you must RSVP to the Farm Supply no later than Friday, September 3, 2010 to compete.

Construction Update ~ McArthur Farm Supply ~ McArthur, Ca

After the long drought we are finally seeing some “rain at the end of the tunnel”! The drought was a difficult time for farmers and ranchers who are all feeling much better with the site of rain and snow in the forecast.

Cattle prices are higher than we have seen in a long time and the water is filling up in the lakes and reservoirs so that when needed it can be funneled to the farmers for our vegetables and fruits to feed America.

So much of our lives as farmers and ranchers is dictated by the weather; branding, weaning, planting, and harvesting are all planned by what the weather forecast will be on that day.

So the question is “Does April showers bring May flowers?” I think that this year it will and for all farmers and ranchers their crops will be better than ever due to the additional rain that we are receiving.

McArthur Farm Supply is a family owned business in Northern California that was established in the late 1800′s, John McArthur, the founding father of the town of McArthur, started our family-owned business as a dried goods business – the John McArthur Mercantile.

 In 1963, John and Shirley McArthur, grandson of the original John McArthur, started the McArthur Farm Supply out of their barn and began serving the needs of the farm and ranching community.

Since 1991, the McArthur Farm Supply, Inc. is owned by George and Chris McArthur, son of John and Shirley. George and Chris have two sons. John is at the US Naval Academy, and Scott is attending George Fox University.
