Gypsum contains Calcium which is an essential part of the cell wall structure in a plant and provides for normal transport and retention of other elements as well as strength in the plant. Gypsum also helps to increase the Sulfur content in the soil. In addition, gypsum can correct the surface soil crusting and poor water penetration as a result of heavy rain or irrigation.

Gypsum contains combining effects of soil and organic matter to increase soil flocculation and it will increase the soil water absorption and infiltration rate. It can enhance liming to correct soil acidity.
